Death of Mr. Abdollah Mojtabavi

photo_mojbavaFILA was informed with great sorrow of the death of Mr. Abdollah Mojtabavi last week, from a heart attack, at the age of 87.

Mr. Mojtabavi won a bronze medal in free-style at the 1951 World Championship, and also in Helsinki in 1952, on the occasion of the Olympic Games. He was dedicated to wrestling and became Head Coach and Coach of the Iranian national free-style team for many years.

FILA conveys its deepest simpathy to the family and friends of Mr. Abdollah Mojtabavi, as well as to the Iranian Wrestling Federation.

Anatoli Kolesov and Valery Onopko's Death

Anatoliy-KolesovAnatoly Kolesov, triple World Champion of Greco-Roman Wrestling (1962, 1963, 1965) died at the age of 74. Sick for a long time, the athlete was still chosen by the Russian Olympic Committee to be head of the delegation to the London Olympics in August.

In the following days, Russia has also lost Mr. Valery Onopko, died suddenly at the age of 64. He was Secretary General of the Wrestling Federation of Russia, merited coach of the USSR, chief coach of Russia and chief coach of Russian National team in female wrestling.
