During this Olympic year, USA will organize the Senior Pan-American Championship and the Continental Olympic Qualifying Tournament for London. Colorado Springs will be held this Championship from 24 to 26 February. The Pan-American Federations will therefore try to get the first places in every category.

Last year in Rionegro (COL), the best Female Wrestling team was Canada, followed by USA and Colombia. It is sure that this year, as organizer, USA will jump on the highest step of the podium.

In Freestyle wrestling, as in Greco-Roman Wrestling, Cuba was the best Pan-American teams. We take this opportunity to underline the great performance of the Cuban team in Greco-Roman Wrestling. Six of their wrestlers finished 1st. USA Wrestling finished 2nd in Greco-Roman Wrestling and 3rd in Freestyle. After his 1st place in Female Wrestling, Canada finished 2nd in Freestyle.

Don’t forget the Venezuelan Team which finished 3rd (GR) and 4th (FS) in the men disciplines.

Every team wants to take a psychological advantage during this Championship before the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

While the city of Gumi (KOR) ​​was preparing to host the second day of the Asian Championships Senior, FILA Bureau was invited to visit the Samsung factories located in the highly technological "Smart City", on the edge of town. The Officers were then able todiscover the latest technology and innovations that will certainly reach the market in few months, or years. FILA want to thank again his partner Samsung for this impressiv visit.

This year, the Asian Wrestling National Federations are invited to participate in the Senior Continental Championship that will be held in Gumi, Korea, from 16 to 19 February 2012. Please find all the information regarding this event at this following link.

Although the Senior Continental Championships will be not qualifying for the 2012 London Olympic Games, there should be many participants, as National Wrestling Federations cannot participate in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament with more wrestlers than in the Senior Asian Championship.

The City of Tashkent (UZB) was the place to be during the last edition. The Organizers’ National Federation made great performances in the Men disciplines (1^st in FS and 2^nd in GR). In Greco-Roman Wrestling, the Iranian Federation finished ahead of Uzbekistan. Korea won the 3^rd place in this style, and in front of their public, Korea will have all advantages to improve this place.

The Iranian Wrestling Federation won the second place in Freestyle Wrestling. Uzbekistan won the competition in this style. Mongolia won the 3^rd place.

Last year, the best Asian Female Wrestlers’ teams were Japan, China and Mongolia.

Will this competition confirm the same ranking than in 2011 or will the outsider like Kazakhstan take an advantage before hosting the Olympic Qualifying Tournament ?

Let’s not forget among the outsiders the Kirghizstan and North Korea teams, which finished last year in the six best teams in two different styles.
